Performers and Artists

This years conference will include a number of performers who will share their talents with us between session and during breaks, as well as artists who will have work displayed in the exhibitor area.

Emcee

Lisa Venable: Lisa Venable, M.A. is an inspirational speaker, spiritual psychotherapist and author of God for President: A Parable about the Power of Love. Lisa's mission is to be a voice for Love in a world of fear.

Performers

Larry Johnson: Larry has been gardening, composting, walking, preserving wetlands and reusing non-compostable "garbage" since he was 4. He even had a garden overseas when he served as a medic during the Vietnam years. He's been teaching all the above through story and song since he ran his first camps in the 60s, helped Tyler the Earthworm run the Children's Hospital TV channel in the 70's and worked for the Minneapols Schools as a Storyteller/Video/Environment specialist in the 80's until 2006.

Robin Rayfield: Robin Rayfield has been performing since he was born. He picked up a guitar at the age of six, and is now a guitar performance major at McNally Smith College of Music, with a minor in music composition. His lifelong passion for music and performing has only grown over time.

Gabriele Kushi: Gabriele Kushi, BFA, MEA, CHC, AADP is an internationally recognized expert on healing with natural foods and Macrobiotic, and the author/photographer of "Embracing Menopause Naturally." She apprentices and works with Native American Medicine women and shamans and spiritual leaders in Africa.

Great Northern Border: Great Northern Border brings you traditional, seasonal dances from the English-Welsh border, along with some Molly dances and some original music and choreography.

Artists

Anne Tiller: Anne has created over 30 quilts since 2001 and has won ribbons at diverse exhibits including the MN State Fair & MN Quilters. She spearheads the MN State Horticultural Society Raffle Quilt Project.

Carlos Rojas: Carlos began painting at the age of 13 through classes in an art school in Leon, Nicaragua. His work blends various artistic styles, but is characterized by a combination of strong colors, representations of his cultural heritage and ideas that explore what it means to be an immigrant living in the United States.

Monica Kenton: Monica connects with the essence of nature by recreating the outdoors with water-based media.  She has a spiritual force guiding her work and she honors the sacred in everything that calls to her.

Mosaic On a Stick: Mosaic on a Stick is a community art space created to promote mosaic art by selling quality supplies, teaching mosaic classes, and creating private and commercial commissions. Mosaic on a Stick is a values-led business that strives to be socially responsible, invested in the community and passionate about mosaics and the people that create them. Mosaic on a Stick is owned and run by artist Lori Greene.  

Powderhorn365: Powderhorn365 is a collaborative effort by 7 photographers living in Powderhorn Park Neighborhood. Joanne Jongsma, Christi Williams, Corey Needleman, Craig Bares, Rachel Greenwald, Dave Gels, and Amy Wurdock have jointly committed to taking a picture a day, for an entire year, of the people and places that make up their home.  

Minnesota Contemporary Quilters: Minnesota Contemporary Quilters is an eclectic group of professional and amateur artists who create art quilts for the wall by dyeing & painting fabric, beading and stitching by hand & machine.

Brant Kingman:  Minneapolis based artist Brant Kingman enhances people's awareness of the value of waste by altering the way it is perceived when he creates pop icons from aluminum (pop) cans.
